I've decided to make my online workshop series, "Clay Is for Everyone" available for free. I offered the workshop twice and am sharing both videos below. I may explain things slightly differently in each video which is why I've offered both, but if you're just going to watch one, I recommend the second workshop recorded in October 2025. In that video, I show two different camera angles during the handbuilding portion helping you to better see how I'm working with my hands and I offer more resources including books from my personal library.
Description:
This workshop is for beginners who would like to work with clay from home but don’t know where to start. Ceramics used to be a free creative medium but has become an expensive hobby. In this workshop, I will explain exactly how to take advantage of the therapeutic benefits of working with clay, but at minimal cost.
In the first half of the workshop, l cover where to get clay and what kind to get, creating a workspace in your home (all you need is a table or counter), safety, basic handbuilding methods, handmade tools vs. commercial tools, surface decoration options, glazing, firing options and much more.
In the second half of the workshop, I demonstrate simple handbuilding methods to get you started making pots you can use.
