Clay containing metallic flecks of mica is naturally occurring in the mountains of Northern New Mexico. Traditionally it was used for cooking pots because the mica acts as a temper reducing the risk of thermal shock which leads to cracking. Today, both Native and non-Native ceramicists use this clay to create works of art.

12” tall, 10 diameter

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0269/5731/6167/files/D90E4D2B-4725-4B6C-B587-D49D1CECAB82.png?v=1731691173
